The Legend of Lord Veerbhadra
Lord Veerbhadra is one of the most powerful and fierce manifestations of Lord Shiva, created from a lock of Shiva's matted hair (jata) in a moment of intense divine rage and profound grief. According to the sacred Puranic texts, particularly the Shiva Purana and Vayu Purana, Veerbhadra was born when Lord Shiva learned of the self-immolation of his beloved consort Sati at her father Daksha's yajna (sacrificial ceremony). Unable to bear the humiliation and disrespect shown to Shiva, Sati invoked her yogic powers and immolated herself in the sacrificial fire.
In his overwhelming anguish, Lord Shiva plucked a lock from his matted hair and threw it to the ground. From this divine lock emerged Veerbhadra - a fierce warrior of immense power, with multiple arms holding various weapons including the trishul (trident), sword, bow, and arrows. The name "Veerbhadra" is derived from two Sanskrit words: "Veera" meaning brave or heroic, and "Bhadra" meaning auspicious or good. Thus, Veerbhadra represents the auspicious warrior aspect of the divine, embodying both fierce protection and ultimate righteousness.
Accompanied by Bhadrakali (created by Goddess Parvati) and an army of ganas (divine attendants), Veerbhadra descended upon Daksha's yajna and destroyed it completely, teaching a powerful lesson about respect for the divine and the consequences of arrogance. Daily Worship
Experience divine darshan and participate in daily poojas, abhishekam, and aarti ceremonies conducted by our experienced priests. The temple opens at 5:30 AM with Kakad Aarti, followed by morning darshan until 12:00 PM. Evening darshan begins at 4:00 PM with Sandhya Aarti at 7:00 PM, allowing devotees multiple opportunities throughout the day to seek blessings and experience the divine presence of Lord Veerbhadra. Our daily rituals include Mangal Aarti, Shringar Aarti, Bhog Aarti, and Shej Aarti, each performed with traditional mantras and devotional fervor.
Festival Celebrations
Join us for grand celebrations of Mahashivratri, Shravan month festivities, and other auspicious occasions throughout the year. Mahashivratri, the Great Night of Shiva, is celebrated with 24-hour continuous darshan, special Rudrabhishek, and night-long devotional programs. The entire Shravan month (July-August) is dedicated to Lord Shiva, with special poojas every Monday, extended morning hours, and grand celebrations.
